One of the many benefits of chiropractic is its effect on mental health. Some of you have reported that a reduced need for anxiety or depression medication. Many patients, including myself, have been able to avoid going on medication because of chiropractic. I began seeing a chiropractor in high school for headaches caused by stress. I began to realize the life changing power of chiropractic when I was seeking help for mood swings. After countless psychotherapists assured me I wasn’t crazy, but were unable to do anything to help me, it was a chiropractor who saw what was going on and was able to adjust me until I felt strong, stable and like “myself” again.
Chiropractic has helped people who have been diagnosed with mental health disorders. But it can also help you if you just want to be happier. Last week a new patient told me that after his first adjustment he felt more joy in small things. Almost every day one of you tells me that you have more energy and are better able to handle emotional stress because of chiropractic.
This is true for children as well as adults. Maybe you have seen the children that come into the office shy and unsure about leaving their parents side, and by the end of their adjustment are happily “helping” Meredith at the front desk. Or you have seen the fussy babies who are sleeping soundly by the time they leave the office. Children’s emotional state can be helped greatly by chiropractic.
Whether it’s a clinical level of anxiety and depression, or just a general feeling that you or your children could be happier, chiropractic can help!
